I’m Oliver Bardwell—entrepreneur, public speaker, and founder of TruNorth Public Affairs. I’ve spent the last two decades building businesses, navigating local government, and working alongside city leaders on land development, construction, and real estate projects across Iowa. I’ve also spent the last several years doing what most business owners don’t have time to do: paying attention to the legislature.

I founded TruNorth because I believe public policy should serve people, not surprise them. Whether it’s new regulations, unfair advantages for monopolies, or legislation that impacts businesses without consultation—too many decisions are being made at the Capitol without the voice of everyday Iowans in the room.

And we don’t just talk about it—we’ve done it. I’ve testified on legislation, led grassroots efforts, and even ran for public office in a close race. I know this work because I’ve lived it—from both the outside and in the heart of the process.
